I re-read the book The World is Flat by Thomas Friedman …and some facts come to mind again and again, worth mentioning.
“It is enough to know that the economy of all the Arab countries [combined] is weaker than the economy of one country that had once been part of our [Islamic] world when we used to truly adhere to Islam. That country is the lost Andalusia [Spain]” (Page 401).
The second point I read in this book was that Muslims combined, represent 1/5th (20%) of the world population, yet only contribute to 4% of the world GDP. (I forgot the page it was at – somewhere in the last three chapters of the book).
