Iska

An iska is a Jewish-law investment or venture arrangement in which supplied capital is treated through a combination of investment and, in some forms, loan characteristics.

The structure allocates profit, loss and management obligations between the capital provider and the managing party. The later Heter Iska uses this investment framework to make commercially useful financing possible without treating the entire return as interest on a conventional loan.
