Dayan

A dayan is a rabbinical judge who sits on a Beit Din.

In a commercial case, a dayan may decide disputes involving contracts, property, investments, loans, damages or business conduct under Jewish law. A dayan is not simply another word for any rabbi; the role is judicial and requires expertise appropriate to adjudicating disputes.
