Beit Din

A Beit Din is a Jewish rabbinical court.

Also called: Beth Din · rabbinical court

Depending on the institution, it can decide family-status matters, religious questions and commercial disputes. In business cases, parties can sign a binding arbitration agreement submitting a dispute to a Beit Din, whose judges apply Jewish law and the parties’ contracts. In jurisdictions such as the United States, the resulting award can be enforced through ordinary arbitration law if the agreement and process meet the applicable legal requirements.
