Step-by-Step Guide to Obtain a Money Transmitter License in North Carolina

Step 1: Register your MSB with FINCEN.

Before you apply for a North Carolina MTL, make sure your company is registered with FINCEN and also meets the basic requirements such as a minimum tangible net worth of $250,000.

Step 2: Create Account on NMLS

Applications for MTLs in North Carolina are only done electronically via NMLS so you need to set up an account to do so.
