Electronic Money Institutions (EMI) are those institutions that have obtained an EMI License under which they cannot only offer all those payment services that are offered by payment institutions but can also deal in the issuance and redemption of electronic money (e-money). E-Money refers to a digital storage of a medium of exchange (or monetary value) on a computerized system, such that it can be traded for goods and services. It can also perform all the functions of money such as serving as a store of value.
